Present Simple<\/strong><\/td>Present Continuous<\/strong><\/td><\/tr>
Things which are always true:Water boils<\/strong> at 100 degrees.<\/td>Things which are happening at the moment of speaking:The water is boiling<\/strong> now, so you can put in the pasta.<\/td><\/tr>
Permanent situations (or nearly permanent; true for a few years at least):Julie lives<\/strong> in London.<\/td>Temporary situations:Julie is living<\/strong> in Paris for a few months (usually she lives in London).I‘m getting<\/strong> better and better at speaking English.Situations which are slowly changing:<\/td><\/tr>
Habits or things we do regularly:I drink<\/strong> coffee every morning.<\/td>Temporary or new habits:I‘m drinking<\/strong> too much coffee these days because I’m so busy at work.My flatmate is always leaving<\/strong> the kitchen in a mess!Annoying habits (usually with ‘always’):<\/td><\/tr>
